The second solo album from Steve Vai shows the guitarist coming into his own as a composer, matching his prodigious talent as a performer. The result is an entertaining mix. The hilarious "Audience is Listening" complements more reflective pieces such as "For the Love of God." The high-powered "Animal" and "Greasy Kid's Stuff" are balanced by "Blue Powder" and "Alien Water Kiss." Unlike most guitar-god solo recordings,
Passion & Warfare avoids the sort of technical noodling that is uninteresting to everyone except other guitarists, opting instead for a collection of high-quality music that is full of compositional experimentation without ever getting out of control.

Athough a few pieces might sound too experimental to gentle ears, the album is of historical significance for guitar playing. A must have for every fan of guitar music.

Ok, if you're a guitarist, you'll love to hate what this man can do with a guitar.
Higly recommended, humbling listen. |

This maybe the best album Steve Vai ever made. He's one of the best guitarists I've ever heard

| Steve Vai's playing here isn't his best in my personal opinion. It's spread out with all of his work. However, this album is definitely his hardest rocking and most technical at the same time. The album definitely goes into several different realms of emotions. He also shows his patriotism with the opening track and has someone recite the pledge of allegiance on another track. "For the Love of God" is considered his big moment, when in my personal opinion, it's a very beautiful track, but he has done other stuff that has been just as good, if not better than that one. "The Audience is Listening" follows that one, contrasting beauty with comedy. Before "For the Love of God" is "Ballerina 12/24," which is a very beautiful track. There's a lot of talking on the album, but it really is an instrumental album. |

| Simply put, the best instrumental rock guitar album of all time. There's nobody better than Steve. |
